Kutai4 - 5's
The Senior preschool 3 ½ – 5+ yr olds – Kūtai Room, is down the other end of the building and has the biggest outdoor space of the centre.
A permanent play structure outside, sandpit, water play, bikes and a veggie garden are on offer. Once again for continuity of care the environment is set up in a similar way to the junior preschool, everything is simply more age appropriate and the routines throughout the day differ.
Our transition to school programme has been put together through extensive consultation with families, the local primary schools and our teachers of whom 2 are qualified primary school teachers. The entire programme that is run in the classroom is designed to prepare children for the next step to “big school”, with key competencies and expectations from parents and primary schools woven through everything we do in a day.
Our routines are flexible and allow for plenty of child initiated exploration and learning through play whilst still providing time for specific daily routines structured around meal times and group learning opportunities.
Meet the Kutai staff
Rosie – Team Leader
Kia ora whanau, my name is Rosie. I love working, learning and growing alongside our tamariki. I enjoy the diversity that my job offers. No two days are the same! I have a Playcentre philosophy and believe that pre schoolers can learn all they need to through play. I think that relationships play a very important part in the early years and I love watching our children as they form friendships and learn from and alongside each other. I moved to Woodhill in 2003, (west is best) and I have a teenaged son. I love being a part of our great community and the awesome Jojo's team/whānau.
Kia ora, my name is Sarah. I am a fully registered teacher with a degree in early childhood education and have been working in early childhood since 2002. I am married to Doug and we have three daughters, Tamzin, Amber and Emma. I became a teacher as I love working alongside children and being a part of their learning and development and working with whānau to ensure their children have the best possible start in life.
Hello my name is Michelle. I am a qualified teacher with my full teacher registration. I started working in childcare in 2001 and have been here at Jojo’s Childcare since October 2015. I live with my partner Neil and our two children Caprice and Hunter. In my spare time I love to spend time with my family swimming and exploring at the beach. I’m a keen baker and love to go out for dinner or just stay home to watch a movie. I am passionate about literacy, photography, art and messy play and look forward to getting to know you and your child.
