Kūtai Room (3.5 to 6 years)

The Senior preschool is down the other end of the building and has the biggest outdoor space of the centre.

A permanent play structure outside, sandpit, water play, bikes and a veggie garden are on offer. Once again for continuity of care the environment is set up in a similar way to the junior preschool, everything is simply more age appropriate and the routines throughout the day differ.

Our transition to school programme has been put together through extensive consultation with families, the local primary schools and our teachers of whom 2 are qualified primary school teachers. The entire programme that is run in the classroom is designed to prepare children for the next step to “big school”, with key competencies and expectations from parents and primary schools woven through everything we do in a day.

Our routines are flexible and allow for plenty of child initiated exploration and learning through play whilst still providing time for specific daily routines structured around meal times and group learning opportunities.
